Well I guess I lied in my most recent blog post, I absolutely broke during winter break. I think since I spent more time at home, I wasn't able to check in with other people about their vegetarian habit change and reflect about how difficult it was together. I didn't have anyone else that was doing this with me and I was surrounded by meat products. It had taken a toll on me before but not as bad as this. So I had meat, I didn't think too much of it. I though that I was allowed to have meat again since I went a couple weeks without it.
So I guess habit change isn't my strong suit but that doesn't mean I can't take another shot at it. While I read an article about 6 Factors that influence our behavior, I noticed that the most important factor that apply to me was Knowledge and Skills. I didn't really know what I was doing. I mean I knew that I was potentially saving the environment but I didn't know how to be vegetarian. I just knew that I couldn't eat meat but I wasn't really sure on what I could eat. Of course there was the basic fruits and vegetables but I didn't really cook and learn how to bring out amazing flavors that I always see on a cooking channel. If was a semi decent chef, I think that I would be able to take vegetarianism to my advantage.
Of course I want to help save the planet and live a long life but I think that our society doesn't do a good job when it comes to making sustainability a reasonable and attractive route to take. Based on what I have seen in the media, we have all seen news media coverage on dangerous climate changes in our planet but never what we as citizens can do in our daily lives to hopefully change this course.
In conclusion I think that I will try this maybe a couple more times in the upcoming year or so. But I know for sure that I will start to eat a lot less beef and eat more sustainable foods. This crazy but enlightening journey has brought me to the conclusion that we need be more informed on the food that we eat and the potential harms that it can do to our big blue planet.
